I am so excited about this topic! We are going over chakras and what are they?
Yes! Are you excited too? Let us get educated on your own energy so we can live life to the fullest!
So, what is a chakra? Chakras are energy centers in our body. The Sanskrit word “chakra” means disk or wheel. They are 7 different areas in our body where these chakras reside. These chakras are a spinning vortex of energy. You cannot see them but can feel them through intuition. These energy centers can get blocked, but the goal is to keep them open and running with flowing clockwise energy.
Let’s first talk about where they are located, which color and element represents each chakra.
The 1st chakra is the Root. It is located at the base of our spine/tailbone. This chakra gives us the feeling of being grounded. When the root chakra is open, we feel confident and can withstand any challenge. It represents our stability, security, and basic needs. The color of this chakra is red, and its element is earth. Makes sense, right? When we ground our energy into the earth, we picture roots from our lower pelvis, moving all the way down to the heart of Mother Earth.
The 2nd chakra is the sacral. It's located at our sex organs. This chakra gives us sexuality, abundance, pleasure, and well-being. When open, creative expression and sexual energy flows. The color associated with this chakra is orange and the element is water. When we think about creativity and sexuality as energy it does have a flow feeling like water, right?
The 3rd chakra is the solar plexus. This is our personal power. It is located at the stomach. When this amazing chakra is open, we feel free to express our true selves. It controls self-worth, confidence, and self-esteem. The color associated with this chakra is yellow and the element is fire. Have you ever been fearless or super confident and felt an inner fire within? I sure have. When this happens, place your right hand over your stomach and you will feel the hot energy flowing into your hands. I love this feeling! To be able to feel your personal power is a true gift.
The 4th chakra is the beautiful heart. This is the bridge between the lower and upper chakras. You can locate this chakra at the center of your chest. The heart chakra is our source of love and connection. It is where we receive true joy, inner peace, deep compassion, and empathy. The color associated with this chakra is emerald green and the element is air. Since the heart chakra is the bridge from earth to the spirit world, it is only fitting that air is the element. Midpoint from heaven and earth. So cool.
The 5th chakra is the throat. This is located were your thyroid gland is. It controls our ability to communicate our highest truth clearly. As the communication center, it not only allows you to express who you are and what you stand for, but also allows you to listen deeply to another. The color is light blue, and the element is sound.
The 6th chakra is the 3rd eye. It is located between the eyebrows. This is our intuition, wisdom, insight, intelligence, imagination, and self-knowing. The color is dark blue/purple. Some people call it indigo. And the element is light. I love the synchronicities to the elements. The speed of light is so fast that if you could travel at the speed of light, you could travel around the Earth 7.5 times in one second!! Holy smokes! Just think of our vast intuition and how we are constantly receiving wisdom, insight and knowledge at this constant rate. We are truly a miracle.
The 7th chakra is the crown. Also, called the “thousand petal lotus” and sits on top of our head. This gives us the ability to open spiritually to higher consciousness. The color is white or violet and the element is divine consciousness.
Now that we know where all these energy wheelhouses reside, how do they receive energy? When we breathe through our crown chakra, pulling energy from the universal source, this is called prana. Also known as Lifeforce. Prana recharges our chakras with its vital cosmic energy. Which keeps us vibrant, healthy, and alive. The prana moves through the spinal column to each chakra and supplies them with life force energy.
Prana is a high vibration, emitting pure love, joy, and unity. So, my friend, let's breathe in that life force and be the true beacons of light we are meant to be.
